Most adults are anxious to give the child in their care the best start in life, and teaching a child to read is one of the most wonderful gifts you could ever give them. Whilst sitting with a child and reading children’s books does encourage a positive attitude to reading, a more focused and structured approach is needed to achieve fluency.
There is a huge range of reading books, word cards and DVDs available and this choice can be overwhelming when deciding which is most suitable for your child. Progress can also be hard to spot, with parents often merely hoping that they are contributing in some small way to their child’s literacy. Reading Revival is a reading scheme that can be used by both parents at home, and teachers in school.
No child is the same, but results consistently show that an average child of approximately 4 years of age spending 10 minutes a day can be brought to a reading age of around 7 years in 6 weeks, and sometimes sooner, using the Reading Revival scheme.
The scheme is well crafted so that an adult with no previous teaching experience can successfully use the toolkit. We have also found that the child is motivated by the process and completes the scheme with an ongoing enjoyment of reading.
It’s time for a Reading Revival.
